You ever had one of those seasons where you just know things are supposed to be coming together, but instead, they’re coming apart like a cheap casserole at a church potluck?
I mean, you had a plan, a good one too. You prayed over it. Thought about it. Probably even said, “This just feels right.” And then… nothing. Or worse, everything goes sideways.
Doors close. Things fall through. People change. And you’re standing there like, “Okay Lord… I’m gonna need You to explain Yourself just a little bit.”
The hard part? We don’t always get to see the steps. We see right now. We feel the confusion. We notice what isn’t happening. Meanwhile, God is behind the scenes working like a Southern grandma getting ready for company – cleaning things you didn’t even know were dirty, moving things around, shutting doors, opening windows… and telling you to stay out of the kitchen. 😄
He’s lining things up you haven’t even thought to ask for yet. He’s protecting you from things that looked good but weren’t God. He’s connecting dots you don’t even know exist. And there you are… focused on one closed door like it just betrayed your whole life plan. Bless it.
But here’s the truth:
Just because you don’t see movement doesn’t mean nothing’s happening. God doesn’t need an audience to do His best work. He’s building a path one step at a time, just ahead of where you’re standing. So while you’re thinking, “This doesn’t make sense,” He’s over there laying bricks like, “Just keep walking, I’m not done yet.”
And if you’re honest? Looking back, you can see it. That thing that didn’t work out? It protected you. That delay you complained about (maybe more than once… no judgment😄)? It positioned you. That situation you thought was a setback? Oh, honey… that was a setup wearing a disguise.
But in the middle of it all? Whew. It feels messy. Unclear. Like you’re following directions written on a napkin… in pencil… during a thunderstorm. And the GPS of life is just over there going “Recalculating… recalculating…” like it’s got an attitude.
That’s where faith steps in.
Not the polished kind. Not the “I’ve got it all together” kind.
The real kind.
The kind that says, “Lord, I don’t understand this, but I trust You anyway.”
Even though it didn’t happen the way you planned doesn’t mean it’s over. It might just mean God is still:
Working.
Arranging.
Aligning.
Preparing something better than what you were trying to hold onto.
And one day, you’re going to look back, shake your head a little, maybe even laugh, and say: “Well, I’ll be… He knew exactly what He was doing this whole time.”
If you’re in a season that doesn’t make a lick of sense – hold on. God’s still writing the story. The path may be hidden, but it ain’t missing. God’s already ahead of you.
